About Us

Gosforth Harriers & AC is a competitive and successful club, based at Gosforth Sports Association in the Gosforth area of Newcastle. We currently have a membership of about around 140 active members, ranging from children of eight years old up to competitive veterans. We take part in competitions from local road, cross country, and track and field to all major national championships.

Gosforth Harriers was founded in 1927. The aim of the club is to encourage members to become active in competition, to become a team member and above all to enjoy the experience.

Seniors and veterans

If you are interested in getting involved and improving your fitness then get in touch and come along to any of the training sessions, you will be more than welcome!

Give it a go in a no pressure, friendly atmosphere before deciding whether to join.

Juniors over 11 years old

Those who wish to join the Monday group must be able to run at least 3 miles at 8.30-mile pace. A recent time over a recorded distance will be required. A good guide is a Parkrun time of around 26 minutes or less. Please contact us if you interested in attending. Under no circumstances should juniors arrive without prior agreement from the club - this is mainly for safety reasons. If you aren't able to meet the required standard yet, please email us and we can provide advice about how to improve your fitness and stamina.

Beginner Juniors - 8 years and above

Juniors should be able to run at least 1 mile

Please note that for safety reasons, junior numbers are limited and there is currently a waiting list - please email us to enquire about your child joining the waiting list.

The aim of our club is to promote competition within Amateur Athletics, to ensure all our members become actively involved in the sport, to encourage team participation and to have fun.
