AGM Minutes 2023

Gosforth Harriers hereby give notice of our intention to hold our AGM on Monday 2nd October 2023.

The meeting will be held at Gosforth Rugby Club, BROADWAY West, NE3 2HY

Monday 2nd October 2023 at 7.15pm after training.

On this Monday the club will meet at the rugby club, which will remain open to allow anyone not running somewhere warm and dry to wait.

We would encourage one parent of every junior member to attend so you can hear from the committee about how the club is run and raise any questions you may

Looking forward to seeing you all there

Minutes taken at the Annual General Meeting held on Monday the 2nd of October.

Apologies from the chair Steve Boddy who was busy doing online safeguarding course.

Irene welcomed all to the meeting.

Jenny gave an overview of the secretary's report on what the club had been achieving over the last year. She and Kevin were working together on many administration tasks to get the club to be operating more digitally with memberships, making all payments to the club online and improving all communications to club members.

Susan gave a detailed overview of the treasurer's report over the past year. Given an explanation of the expenditure for memberships, purchasing club Kit trophies, rent for both Gosforth Sports association and North Shields Poly for track sessions. Members were informed that the annual fees are to be increased by on average £10 per member. This was in the main due to increase in England athletics fee which will go up from £17 per athlete to £19 in April and the various other expenditure the club pays for members entering races i.e., Cross country harrier league etc.

Sponsorship and donations were also discussed as we currently receive £2500 in sponsorship and donations. Helen raised the issue that we could seek to explore community funding and the locally Asda would be a possibility.

Kirk explained how we as a club are now working with Kit locker and all kit can be purchased online except for club vests and club crop tops which he has stock of. Hopefully this stock will be stored at GSA when space becomes available.

Neil had recently been appointed as the social secretary and is open to assistance in this role.

Sarah & Ben have been working hard on designing a short survey which will be sent to all members to give feedback on what they want from the club training sessions. This survey will be sent out in the next day or two and needs to be returned no later than the 12th of October. Prior to our next coaching meeting.

Irene explained that there was a real need within the club to recruit more coaches and the club would pay coaching course fees.

Members felt that they were receiving more information re training sessions. Also the What’s App groups are helpful. Plan to merge some of the What’s App groups as different groups for different training night.
